k. and her jazzbuddy went to catch some groove, or rather some swing, at the 20th saskatoon jazz festival. not rolling in money, we opted for the free stage. and guess what. it turned out to be better than the ticketed one, as we were able to establish by listening over the fence with the welcoming sign
"NO STANDING".

arriving 6ish, we settled ourselves on blankets right in front of the stage, sort of almost in the jazz-mashpit (which actually became a dance floor). first up, the 'tin bridge sextet'. sexy singing and playing! and the music wasn't bad either;-P apparently these youngsters appear every sunday at lydia's bar. ha! who knew! there was a solemn resolve between the two of us, right there and then, to start frequenting that establishement on said day.
next, 'wilma'. older, woodstock-sounding. GREAT harmonica player! and the vocalist knew how to have fun. all of them did.
yes, we had fun too. you bet your red socks we did!and the sound carried so well over the river that k. was able to dance all the way home...

I say outside and listened to Little Richard, I could even hear him speak thanks to the concrete U I live in.

just to be a total brat: I love the word mashpit! It should have always been called mashpit, b/c that's what pple do in it-mash around.
PS- Canadian Idol runner-up Theresa Sokyrka's band played on Sunday nights too, even after she became famous without them. Is it them?
i think not. but i'm not sure.
I think it should be "mashpit" instead of "mosh pit" too. In actuality it really was more of a sitting and listening pit though (and some dancing), which is good because I don't like moshing:)
