crafty victorians

i admit it. i was wrong about george eliot. funny that after failing so pathetically with 'middlemarch' i was so completely won over by the novel which she wrote last.
not that i'm surprised;-)

and there you have it. k. is off to revise her reading list yet again.
'night,

guest post by cara the temp

Hello, your guest blogger today will be me. Kas is huddled under a desk in the fetal position and can't come to the computer. Must be too much squash (or maybe it's a thesis writing thing). So I get to write stuff! Yay me! I thought I'd start off with something funny. Shifty squirrels make me laugh, 'nuff said.

archaeological magic

more fantastic objects from the safi lab! safi restorer dina has been working hard as you can see. i've met her during my first season at the dig, amazing woman. i could watch her dancing hands for days and weeks as she recreates vessels out of dusty sherds... (photos by julia iatesta, i think)

wow

just want to inform that "the dancing bubble kiss time 2006" was a complete and utter success despite even k. and her dark light aura. k. is now off to make souvenir tshirts in shocking pink or else electric blue...more details to come.
maybe.

the things i'm subjected to at my place of work

scapy pretends he is a useful and handy scape goat, holding up cara's bones for her so she can take photos of cutmarks...actually he was making obcene remarks in my direction the whole time! just look at him. little perv.
and all this because i gave him a nice scarf out of the goodness of my heart.
*sigh*

k.'s one claim to coolness

o.k. so i know most of you don't give a rat's bum but i so like to brag about my safi connection. these pics are from the new lab the team and the collection moved into about a year ago...the guy in a dark shirt with a kippah on his head is aren m., the director, the other guy is semour gitin, and the lady is trude dothan (if you don't know them don't worry, if you do...pretty groovy, eh?) yes, i know it is not *my* lab but i can't help myself, i'm so proud of it, *snif, snif, snif*...

this of course is joe on the right showing off his LB material

all the photos are from the new safi blog, maintained mostly by joe, with some input from aren

portrait of the father as a young man

it's also my dad's birthday today. many happy returns dad! he's 57.
the pic above was taken, i think, on one of his hiking trips. no idea whether my mother was with him already. maybe not, cause he looks kinda sad;-) the cig is totaly for show (that's what she says now, anyway)

for m.g. and the rest of the fan club

back by popular demand, jacob c., the belle of my family.
enjoy ladies, and try not to drool on your keyboards...computers don't like aquatic environments.

you're welcome,
k.
