theoretically i'm working on my gender lecture, and a chapter of my thesis...
upstairs they're rebuilding the house...or at least, that's what it sounds like.
current mood: unfocused
put up carrie's xmas lights today. very ingenious use of pins, i must say;-) had the soundtrack to 'nightmare before christmas' playing along.
one must amuse oneself in any way one can.
maybe i should make some dinner?

couldn't sleep last night so i've started reading the silly book i was supposed to leave for the plane... it's called "the witch of cologne". it's catalouged as a 'historical novel', and in general it is....lots of descriptions of 'hardening members' though;-P how on earth did they get all those wars and pogroms done if they shagged day and night? i ask you. it might explain the lenght of the 30 yrs war, however...interesting, no?
fascinating to read about cologne in 1600s though, especially the jewish community. as you know, my grandad was brought up there from age 2.
but, right now i'm at the uni. , where else. shame, it was such a glorious day today.
hope everyone else is having a more laid back long weekend.

first off, jerome, the translation of the cartoon in The Polish is as follows:
"when it rains i walk with my head in the clouds".
see, not so funny really. also, thanks for your kind enquiry. all is fine.
secondly, here's some more media coverage of tell es-safi ostracon!!!
plus a link to an english article, just in case some of you don't read hebrew;-P

@home & in reuters
the other two left me to my own devices till monday...they're off partying in alberta.
had a quiet, furiously working kind of day, both meaghan and i prefer the lab in the afternoon, i think. fewer distractions, by far.
for some reason u. of calgary decided to send me all of the volumes of "swedish cyprus expedition" report but one. guess which one i need. guess.
it's like something from gogol.
also, found more discrepancies in people's references. ha, ha...not so hot now, are we, ms. gonen?
it's getting a bit frosty on my fabulous new bike (on loan from marie) these days, esp. in the morning. but, no more sore bum!
o.k. here's reason 698 why k. is a huge geek: the most exciting thing about next week's flight to philly is the fact that she'll have guilt free reading-for-pleasure time in the airport and on the plane!!! and it's going to be something shamelessly silly too;-)
do you remember the incised ostracon i mentioned in my sas talk? here's something prof. maeir sent me today: (click on it, then scroll down to 'life!' section and then look for icon with title about david and goliath, set volume on high, it's quiet)

thanksgiving witches
for some reason i really like this picture of us three...it must be all the thanksgiving food and wine visible on the table.
this is instead of halloween picks i had planned for here. but all of them turned out to have someone's face in them....i might have to play around with those in photoshop a wee bit. don't need any lawsuits now, do i.
