nitwit, oddment, blubber and tweak!
being a proper witch k. is spending the evening, for now anyway, with a familiar. snuffsnuff is acting a bit possessed. fittingly, yes, but he's overdoing it at the moment. insane miaowing will not get him anywhere even on halloween. i let him drink water from dirty dishes in the sink. i mean, that's got to be the hight of feline impropriety.
or maybe candy would be. but k. ate it all. MWUAAAHAAAHAA!!!
the other two went to the cinema to get the shit scared out of them.
yeeees.
chocolate cauldron anyone?

how many policemen does it take to put a granny in a can?
here's another one from that march in ny......kinda feel sorry for the cops, i mean, how do you arrest someone who has to use a walker? "excuse me madam. i apologize for your goverment from the bottom of my heart, but i'm afraid i will have to escort you to that scary looking van over there....please permit me to seize your walking-assisting device".

thanks for the giving
snuffles and k. got up early on this holiday morning (o.k. maybe not that early) and are cooking up a storm. snuff by galloping wildly all over the house (someone's chasing him. k. doesn't yet know who cause it's all very top secret), k. by immersing herself in her 1972 edition of "the art of jewish cooking" (jennie grossinger, toronto: bantam books) and then completely disregarding the recipe by adding 1/3 bag of quinoa instead of "1 tablespoon of fine barley" and 'earth balance' non-dairy, sans gluten margarine instead of "fat" (grossinger 1972: 124). did you know that nutmeg was used as a hallucinogen in ancient times? (porter 2005: personal communication) k. decided to be generous with it, i mean, is it a feast day or not?
but not to worry, the major thing about tzimmes is that it is very hard to mess it up. especially a simple one like the one you're be eating later tonight;-)
mom's salad is already in the fridge awaiting the final touches to be added at the last minute.
wine's on the counter in a protective paper bag, cute israeli dress on a hanger, to be pressed.
k. is so much better organized than the stiffs in the illustration above...
no flying turkey in her kitchen!
report on the day's developments to follow...
yours domesticaly,
k.

crackity, crack, crack
how is it that my days are becoming longer and longer and i still can't sleep?
sitting here chewing on stretched mozzarella dipped in apple horseradish...and i have nothing more interesting to report but food tips.
tired, tired, tired.
hols monday...are you here yet?
anyone out there want to thanksgiving-over to my town for le weekend? i'll take you to le banquet sensationel chez amie. hmmmmm?...
oh, i'm on crack. and it's european crack.
but the invitation stands;-)))
and now i'm going to bed. alone, and with a book about an old amnesiac antique books dealer in milan.
so there.
good night.

tonight
o.k., first of all, tonight a new year starts for jews born and honourary. so, rosh hashana tova ve metukah! which means (rough translation) 'may you have a good and sweet year'.
to celebrate k.'s going to have a shot of vermouth, a ton of apples, and honey in her tea. no fish cause it's gross. yak.
normally, holidays are time for family so one can feel loved and safe and in the right place. yes. well, i'm not so badly off after all, don't you think?
also, one is supposed to forgive all wrongs in the time between rosh hashana and yom kippur (day of atonement). and be forgiven. to start the new year without burdens, so to speak.
let me know how that goes for you.
all the best and love,
k.
